After a hugely successful career spanning over 30 years, our Managing Director Superstat, Chris Collinson, has announced his retirement from the company in a joint statement with the Board of Directors.
Chris co-founded Superstat back in 1994 with Chairman Ivan Dunn and has been instrumental in the unparalleled success of the company. Under Chris’ leadership, the group has gone from strength to strength and now has in excess of 380 dealers and a combined turnover of £200m.
Chris leaves behind a wealth of experience which will continue to be run by the Board of Directors; Alex Dunn, Karly Haley, and Graeme Hargreaves and the Senior Management Team: Sarah Kellett, Richard Lockley and Tom Hickson.
Starting life as a packer at Neville and Gladstone at the tender age of 16, Chris was hard working and full of self-belief that he could make a difference to the business. He was quickly promoted through the ranks to Head Buyer before moving to First Choice as their Commercial Manager where he met Ivan Dunn and they co-founded Superstat.
“We were working with dealers as an importer of chairs and adhesive tapes and spotted an opportunity to start a dealer group to support the independent dealer. So we went to Spicers, got ourselves a buying deal and the rest is history.”
Chris goes on to say;
“I’ve had many great years at Superstat, and had a lot of fun along the way. I now feel that the time is right to do something different with my life. I’m not quite ready for a pipe and slippers, but I am ready for a fundamental change to my work life balance, and I do intend to use my knowledge and experience to explore new challenges.”
Chairman Ivan Dunn commented:
“Chris feels that the time is right for him to make a change to his life and we understand and respect that decision. Chris is not only a colleague but a friend as well and we wish him every happiness in whatever his future brings. We have an experienced and talented Board of Directors and Senior Management team, with over 90 years industry experience ready to embrace the challenge of taking the business to the next level, which is exciting for us all.”
